Vernon R. Pruitt, 83 of De Soto, Mo. passed away at 4:15 a.m on Saturday, September 26 at the Hillcrest Nursing Facility, due to a massive stroke. Vernon was born March 7, 1938, to Lura and Everett Pruitt in the Happy Corner community of Leachville, Arkansas. He was the firstborn to Lura and Everett and what a delightful boy he was. Vernon attended school at Childress, where he made many wonderful, lifelong friends. One of his greatest past times, as well as joys, in his later years was reconnecting with many of those great friends in Arkansas. He shared lots of fun stories with many of us, regarding those early years... names were changed to protect the innocent! He really was quite the jokester.
Vernon owned and operated Pruitt's Auto Sales and Salvage in the Wildwood, Mo., area of St. Louis for many years. That's where he met and married, Doris Wright Pruitt (deceased). Vernon was of the Christian faith and was very serious about his faith in Jesus Christ. He would often call his cousins to talk with them about various TV ministries. His favorites were Dr. Charles Stanley and Rev. Billy Graham. Once he said, "You can't go wrong with Rev. Graham."
His survivors include 2 daughters: Angela and Stacie Pruitt of St. Cloud, Fl.
Very Proud Grandfather to 2 grandchildren: Seth and Kendra Pruitt of St. Cloud, Fl.
1 Beloved Sister: Shirley Pruitt Balmer (Bill), of De Soto, Mo.
1 Beloved Brother: Earnest (Elizabeth), of St. Peters, Mo.
Several nieces and nephews and a host of very special cousins who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother: Gerald Wayne Pruitt
There was one very special lady at Hillcrest who was very dear to Vernon and the entire family, "Meagan", Social Worker. She made everything in
Vernon's life easier for him and we are forever grateful to her!
