Norma Lou Kennedy

May 3, 1935 — July 28, 2020

Norma Lou Kennedy at age 85 passed onto Glory to be with Jesus at home in Hillsboro, Missouri, in the late evening of July 28, 2020. She was born May 3, 1935, at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland, OH, to the late Frieda Catherine Hoertz (Mother) and Milton Charles Hoertz (Father).  Norma was a registered nurse when she started her married life with her husband Lowell. Together they dedicated their lives to missions and worked side by side for almost 50 years in Nigeria, Columbia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica. Norma enjoyed doing cross-stitching, was a part of her church's women’s support group, and was a cheerleader to her family by attending as many events as she could.

Norma knew that death was a blink away from eternal life with Jesus. She wanted to be remembered, in her words, As a faithful servant of the Lord, as one who cared and loved her Lord, family, friends. A person  who showed compassion and concern for  mankind and was available to help when  possible.”  She desired her loved ones to know, “That I  am honored to be a wife, mother and friend. That I have felt their love for me and that I never felt alone or abandoned.  That I am proud of each one for who they  are and love them all equally.”  She also wrote, My accomplishment lives  on in my children.

Norma L. Kennedy was preceded in death by her firstborn son at age 2,  Charles Allen Kennedy, and her daughter-in-law Noelle Kennedy.

She is survived by her husband, Lowell Estes Kennedy (89), and four children: Catherine May DeRoos  (husband Les), Daniel Estes Kennedy  (wife Joy), Linda Sue Kennedy, and  Timothy Ray Kennedy (wife Brenda).

Norma is also survived by her twelve  grandchildren: Rachelle (husband  Nathaniel), Josiah (wife Karis),  Zachery (wife Olivia), Jonathan,
Autumn, Andrew, Amanda (husband  Hamza), and Alexander; Autumn  (husband Chris), Faith, Micah, and  Isaiah. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren:  Jerry, Isaiah, Lilia,  Hadassah, Micah, Ezra, Jude, Jesse, Jamie.
