Lawrence "Larry" W. Worthy, 87, died April 9, 2024 at his home in De Soto, MO. He was the son of the late Eva Ruth Lawrence Worthy and Lee F. Worthy. Mr. Worthy was born in Roxton TX on Sept 5, 1936. Mr. Worthy served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. He retired after 32 years with the Department of Defense. After retirement he founded his consulting business, retiring in 2007. He enjoyed traveling by Motorhome and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Clark) Worthy; One son: Jeff (Kathy) Worthy; Three daughters: Donna Driskill; D'Ann (Kevin) Simpson; and Jeannie (Rich) Lawson; Seven grandchildren: Nicholas Simpson (Emily), Taylor Simpson, Tyler Bolte, Michael Bell (Melissa), Matt Bell (Jenny), Jeff Bell (Shelly), and Taylor Lawson (fiance Brian); Ten great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; Brother: Jimmy T. Worthy; Brothers-in-law: Pete Stroud and Ken (Becky) Clark, Sisters-in-law: Nellie McGurer, Delores Duniphan, and Darlene (Rick) Bove; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eva Ruth Lawrence Worthy and Lee F. Worthy: Brother Lemuel F. Worthy, Sister Angie Stroud, Sisters-in-law Linda Worthy and Debra Mayer; Brothers-in-law Melvin Clark, Bob Clark, and Gary Clark; and Son-in-law David Driskill.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro or to St. Jude's Hospital.
