Karen A. Harris, 57, of Hillsboro, died July 24, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.
She was a long-time owner and operator at A Cut Above and beloved by many.
Karen is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dan, son Craig (Stephanie), daughter Leann Broadwater (Jeff) and two adored grandchildren, Colton and Kendall. Proceeding her in death were her parents, Kenneth and Barbara Alexander and James Turner, and sister Linda Alexander.
She is also survived by siblings Kevin Turner (Sherry), Susan Turner, Saundra Turner, Steve Church, Janise Corbitt (Wayne), Kenneth Alexander (Lisa), Brian Alexander (Dana), Steve Alexander (Colissa), Terri Parker Alexander, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and her beloved clients.
Karen founded her business in 1990 and served her customers with kindness and compassion. She often joked that haircuts were $20, therapy $65. When a client couldn’t pay their bill, Karen said she still deserved to feel beautiful. She was generous to a fault, always taking care of others.
Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family and playing the role of “Mimi”. She also loved good music, road trips, boating and shopping at her beloved Macy’s. She was the queen of bargains.
