Joe Travis Wood

Joe Travis Wood entered this life on July 20, 1936 in Osceola, Arkansas and was raised in northeast Arkansas. Joe was the son of Lena (England) and Abie Joseph Wood. He served in the US Army prior to meeting the love of his life. Joe married his bride Saundra (Simpson) Wood on Sept. 27, 1963. They recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. To this union, four children were born; Denise (Dave) Woodside of Caruthersville, MO, Douglas Wood of Roselle, MO, Scott (Tonya) Wood of Brighton, TN, and Bradley (Amber) Wood of Lincolnton, GA.

Joe left this world on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022 having reached an age of 86 years, 4 months, and 6 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Edmond Wood and Gladys Jean Horn.

In addition to his wife and his four children, Joe is survived by two siblings, Reta (Odell) Daniels of Kennett, MO and Wayne Wood of DeSoto, MO. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Janea (Jason) Peppers, Jesse, Brayden, Isaiah, Jaida, Aidan, Layla, Kayleigh, and Jaxon Wood, and one great-granddaughter, Arya Peppers.

Joe worked for many companies, most often in a supervisory role. When not working, Joe could be found constantly working on some project around the homeplace or working in his garden.
