He was a retired St Louis City Firefighter, former Captain of Engine Company # 28 and a member of St Louis City Firefighters Union.

He is survived by,
wife- Marcella Smoot (nee Sawicki) of Hillsboro Missouri
son- Eric (Betty) Smoot of Hillsboro Missouri
daughter- Tracy (Darrell) Stiles of Hillsboro Missouri
daughter-Delores (Philip) Robbins of Coin Iowa
sister-Helen Lubiewski of St Louis Missouri
brother-Kenneth "Bob" (Lea) Smoot of Imperial Missouri
brother- Raymond Smoot of St. Louis Missouri
brother-Thomas Smoot of St Charles Missouri

Also survived by,
12- grandchildren and 10- great grandchildren.
