North Augusta, SC--Mr. Frank Kleffner, 83, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Trinity Hospital, Augusta, GA. Frank was born January 7, 1927 as the 8th of 9 children to Frank and Anna Kleffner. He spent his youth in Brinktown and served in the US Navy as Motor Machinist''s Mate, Third Class in the Asian Pacific during World War II. He married Rose Mary Hogan in 1952 and initially worked as a carpenter, beginning in 1954 for Gamble Construction and retired as a Construction General Superintendent from Bannes-Shaughnessy, Inc. in 1989. He was a member of St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church until he retired and moved to Hillsboro, MO as a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In 2004 he and Rose Mary relocated to North Augusta, SC and became a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.Frank is survived by his loving wife Rose Mary, a daughter Mary (Kleffner) Fleiss, son-in-law Doug Fleiss of North Augusta, and daughter-in-law Vicki (Clark) Kleffner of St. Louis. He was predeceased by his son, Raymond Kleffner. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ed Fleiss of Hampton, VA; Ted Kleffner, Sarah (Kleffner) Banks and her husband Josh Banks, and great-grandson Noah Banks of St. Louis.Frank was a member of St. Louis Carpenters Local #5 for 56 years and a member of the Carpenters Retirement Club. He was a member of the Missouri Milers Volksmarch Club, Jefferson County Square Dancers Club, Friendship Club of Augusta, GA, and a life-time member of the VFW Post #3777 in Festus, MO. Frank enjoyed remodeling homes and was an avid gardener, sharing his tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Donald H. Loebl for his outstanding care and concern for Frank over the past several years.Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 11 AM at St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church, 3949 Wilmington Avenue, St. Louis, MO. Family will receive friends at the church at 10 AM prior to the Funeral Mass. Private burial will take place at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Brinktown, MO. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 5 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, North Augusta, SC.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church-Building Fund, 856 Old Edgefield Road, North Augusta, SC 29841.
