Bettye J Henry passed away March 21, 2023, at Mercy de Greeff Hospice House in St Louis. She was born in Caruthersville, MO, the daughter of Silas E McCulloch and Edith V Hutson. She is survived by her husband of 73 yrs. Dr.Bailey Ray Henry of St.
Louis. The couple had three sons: Frederick Marcus Henry ((Rubi) of Fort Mill, S C, David E Henry (deceased) Jeffrey Ray Henry (deceased) Patricia Montes de Oca, of Wentzville , and one daughter adopted by affinity Yvonne Meyers (Glen) of Grubville, MO. She had two brothers: Wm Crews McCulloch (deceased) Ronnie G. McCulloch (Carole) of Linden, TN, two sisters: Neta Thompson (deceased) Albuquerque. NM and Kay N. Medlin/Belford (Loren) of Caruthersvi1le, MO, five grandchildren: David G. Henry (Denisse) of Fort Mill, SC, Helene Touchberry (Spencer) of Fort Mill.SC, Jeffery A Henry St. Louis, Alexander R. Henry (Kaitlynn) of St Louis, Benjamin T Henry of Wentzville two great grand children: Emma M. Henry of Fort Mill, SC and Liam Touchberry of Fort,Mill, SC.
Bettye was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and was a teacher in Missouri Public Schools at Gideon, Farmington, and Hillsboro for 26 yrs. She was very dedicated to the success of her students and was often rewarded by seeing their accomplishments in succeeding years.
Her greatest interests were in activities with children and in the pursuit of genealogy. Her interest in family history began as a teenager and culminated in later years in the publication of two books on the McCulloch Clan. The books created wide interest in McCulloch history and resulted in many letters, telephone calls, and information exchanges in Europe and the United States.
She enjoyed many trips overseas during retirement years and delighted in relating stories of her travels to family and friends. She was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church and an active participant in the women's groups for many years.
Visitation: March 25, 2023, from 11am to 1pm at Hillsboro Methodist Church 4819 Hwy B, Hillsboro, MO. 63050
Service to follow at 1pm at the church.
